The Schoolhouse Trail is a 16-mile asphalt trail that begins at the intersection of Illinois Highway 162 and Edwardsville/Troy Rd. in Troy and extends southwest past Drost Park in Maryville, runs along the edge of Horseshoe Lake State Park in Granite City and ends at Harrison Street in Madison. The trail also connects to the Nature Trail at Horseshoe Lake State Park in Granite City, and to Eastport Dr. in Collinsville. Eastport Dr. offers a 1-mile on-road connection to Splash City Water Park and Gateway Center in Collinsville.

Parking is available in Granite City at Horseshoe Lake State Park, in Collinsville at Gateway Center, in Maryville at Drost Park, and in Troy at the Park and Bike Lot at Illinois Highway 162 and Edwardsville/Troy Rd.
