The Nature Trail is a 13-mile asphalt trail that begins at Longfellow Rd. and Illinois Highway 159 in Edwardsville adjacent to the Lewis & Clark Community College (LCCC) N.O. Nelson campus, then extends southwest through Edwardsville to Mockingbird Ln. in Granite City. Immediately east of Mockingbird Ln., the Nature Trail extends south to the Schoolhouse Trail at Horseshoe Lake State Park. The trail also features a connection in Edwardsville that extends north through University Park to the SIUE campus.

Parking is available in Edwardsville at Longfellow Rd. and Illinois Highway 159 adjacent to the LCCC N.O. Nelson campus; at Longfellow Rd. and Nelson Ave.; Edwardsville High School during non-school hours; and in Pontoon Beach at the Park and Bike Lot on Revelle Ln.
